Electronic Manufacturing: What Are the Main Steps?
Electronic manufacturing is an industrial process that consists of assembling different components onto a printed circuit board in order to perform a specific function. Electronic boards are used in many industrial applications and can provide control, monitoring, communication, or power management functions.
What Is an Electronic Board?
An electronic board is made up of a printed circuit board, also known as a PCB (Printed Circuit Board), on which different components are mounted: resistors, capacitors, relays, connectors, microcontrollers, or integrated circuits.
The PCB provides the electrical connections between these components through conductive tracks. Once the components have been assembled and soldered, the result is a functional electronic board.
How Does Electronic Manufacturing Work?
The electronic manufacturing process begins with the design of the circuit and the placement of the components. These components are then assembled onto the PCB using different technologies.
SMT (Surface-Mount Technology) makes it possible to mount components directly onto the surface of the printed circuit board. Through-hole technology, on the other hand, uses components whose leads pass through the PCB before being soldered.
After assembly, the board undergoes several inspections to check soldering quality, component positioning, and correct electrical operation.
